Also I agree on how good it sounds and how quiet it is , but only as a catback . Once you add downpipe and or replace the stock cat it gets louder than that 95 db. That was the first catback I have owned for my evo and loved it till I opened up the exhaust even more .
So would you say that the Buschur double magnaflow or project valve technology exhausts are quieter? Or just that they're a good compromise and still a true 3" design?

Dont Go Buschur I have their 3" Turbo back with Hi Flow Cat and Magnaflow Muffler, Drones like a sun of a beach under throttle, 80mph cruising on the highway too, just DRONES AND DRONES. I am looking to going back to OEM or doing something. After 3 yrs of drone I am going frickin INSANE!!!

Buschur does have a new Mid Muffler that goes where the Cat would go, but that will not cure Drone. They are for higher frequencies that does not affect the low DB's of drone. Drone is Bassy like having a 12" woofer playing jazz. haha.

Honestly, My exhaust drives me frickin NUTS!!

I don't know much about it, but my car came with a billy boat exhaust that seems pretty quiet.

Here starts the Irony. The deal is there really is no such thing as "quiet" exhaust for a car that is making power that you are making. You either, want the power, or you lose some power to hush down the exhaust.

I mean it makes a HUGE difference in power, I am talking 20-30whp difference. Or more depending on what exactly you want to change. I have tried so many different ways, Test Pipe, Cat, Hi-Flow Cat etc, and my BR TBE with Magnaflow exhaust is just plain loud. I knew that though going into buying it. Some companies to sell "Resonator Test Pipes" that I am going to try next. Its like a Test Pipe but has an insulated resonator. This helps with the db's.

So I would try that. If your current exhaust company that you chose does not have a resonated pipe available you can buy them aftermarket and have them put on. (Like the above mentioned) You could run a HFC and cut the exhaust in the intermediate pipe and have a resonator put in. It would help with minimal HP Loss. IMO.

Jeff

I run a magnaflow muffler and high flow cat. It is pretty quiet.

Now if you want to try something completly different then here is a thread for you. I have done this on my Mustang. Driving down the highway the loudest noise is the wind! I have a 3" duel exhaust with Magnaflow mufflers. Should work on single exhaust also.

hks sport exhaust. Look like stock with stock-style muffler and brown coating, straight 75 mm (3 in = 76.2mm) no tapper, no resonator, quiet cruising, great sound when wot. I got it from MAP Performance, good vendor. I don't have the gt35r like you but the HKS GTII turbo, testpipe, downpipe, cams, AEM intake... still quiet until you give it 100%.

My previous custom Magnaflow with a long resonator and huge muffler is as quiet but it sounds different when WOT. I feel some hp gained with the HKS.

I've been researching this for a long time. I finally put the stock back on. I lost 25 hp/tq and 700 RPM spool up. It sucks, but it's quiet until WOT.

BTW, 95 db maybe legal in CA, but not in CO (80 db or not louder than oem), and 95 db is not quiet. Stock is 75 db at idle. My previous Tsudo 3" exhaust CBE got me enough tickets to change it. I still get pulled over for dumb stuff, like, "where are you going?" or "do you have a baffler on this exhaust?", but not as much as normal, once a month.

So what's a CO Evo guy to do? Works Stealth set up? Who knows, but I hope SEMA passes the something here in CO like they did in CA. SEMA are you listening?

I'm actually looking for the same "quiet" exhaust.

I want my car to be a sleeper.
