can not find oil leak!

Have a oil leak, I have been underneath the car several times, noticed that there is oil driping down my oil cooler line, that connects from the cooler to the filter. Also the back of the block appears to be wet. I'm not sure if it is the line itself that is leaking, and blowing back, causing the back of the block to be wet, or is it the head gasket itself that might be leaking. I just had the head gasket done maybe 6,000 miles ago, or less, so that would be a reason why I don't beleive it is it. My car only has 44,000 miles, please any information will be of great appreciation.

When you said back of the block, I immediately thought head gasket. Did you do the install of the gasket? Did you do arp studs? Either way, I don't think air would be able to push oil up and back that far. Only thing I would suggest, is to clean everything up with some brake parts cleaner, then take it for a drive. Park, and check to see if you can see where it's coming from. If you installed arp's maybe re-torque them.

degrease it all then go to napa or carquest and get oil dye. put it in your oil, drive it for a day and pull it in a dark garage. get a black light and shine it around. the leak will glow with the light.

+1 That should definately give you a better idea of were the leak is coming from.

I pulled the lower timing belt cover, and it was dry. Do u think that maybe if I redo the head gasket I should put a copper head gasket sealent, I heard that it might work!

I also had an oil leak that sounds as you described. Mine was the valve cover. On the passenger side in the back there is a tube that is there for draining any fluid out of the spark plug area. I had no fluid in there but it must have been leaking around the tube. I put silicone on it and no more leak.

Bumping this thread. Any luck finding the culprit? I just did my HG 5k miles ago and I noticed a leak all around right below the head. I'm going to retorque head studs now. I'll let you know if it worked.
