I would like the BB upgrade for a reliability upgrade. The BB will survive higher thrust loads and less stellar oiling. I could give a crap about faster spool but I wouldnt turn it down.

I am sure that I could rebuild my journal bearing 16G turbo myself. In fact, there are a couple of how-to threads on the forums. The rebuild kit can't cost more than a couple hundered bucks either.

How nice is it though to not have to do it? How much is the headache to replace a dead turbo worth to you? Time is very valueable. I would spend the 800 to make my turbo more reliable. It is apparent that stock frame turbos run VERY hard like in the 40+psi range they dont live too long. If I knew it would make my 40psi FP black or red live as long as a stocker at 20psi I would do it. I would prob however just go t3 DBB in any case though because I feel that in the long haul people spend more on stock frame turbos. So I guess I should really stay out of the convo
At what cost the BB upgrade though , Batty? By comparison, what is the price of doing a rebuild of your journal bearinged turbo? A shop can't charge more than a couple hundred bucks, I'll bet.

With a 5 month old baby and 2 jobs I dont have much time at all. Thats why I have been sitting on hks 272's, 6262R turbo kit, BS eliminator, rod bolts and a FMIC to install on my evo for almost a year now. Hopefully I will be able to slow down some once my finances settle down. I was even considering selling the EVO and my STi just so I would have more time and less stress. Time is very valuable commodity!
