Is Samco IC hose kit worth the money?

I mean... are silicon hoses cost that much??... 7 pieces of silicon
hose couplers that cost more than $250...

Are they worth it??

I'm seeing less boost winter than back when I just got the car in
summer... so I might remove the front bumper to check on all
the IC connectors.... and while I'm at it I might as well upgrade
all the connectors with silicon couplers...

(Vendors: whats the best price for your samco kit? )

...a while back, someone posted it was worth 4-6whp and better throttle response... might have been Silver Surfer, but I can't remember.

I would not think it would make anymore power. And 4 to 6 hp between dyno runs even on the same stock car are not un heard of.

From what I hear, the bottom IC piping is the really restrictive one, but the top is fine.

I wasn't arguing the point... merely stating what I remember was posted... If you want to go there, you could state that a dyno operator could make a dyno vary 10-20hp (conservative) based on inputs...

I wasn't arguing the point. Just a statement. I have hoses my self and did not feel a thing. IMHO.

Finally, someone who has them speaks up and says so.

I just remember seeing a video of the engine bay when the
owner was revving his engine... I was surprised how much the
rubber coupling (next to the battery) flexed and ballooned every
time the guy gets on the gas...

I had the wife blip the throttle while I watched the hoses expand about a 1/2"... I can't imagine how much they expand under 19+psi.

That wasn't me, I am still running the stock hoses/pipes. Looking at the stock hoses, I don't see how the samco hoses would flow any better, infact the external sheath on the stock rubber hoses should make them ballon/flex less than the samco. Unless they are double reinforced thick rigid hoses, and they do not appear to be. The only advantage I could think of to the silicon hoses is that they hold up better over time to heat, pressure, chemicals, and of course some think they look nice.

I still cannot find anyone who has tested the upgraded intercooler hose/pipe kits and found any substantial gains from just that part? The stock hose/pipe setup is really dam good for stock. I suspect for a mildly modified car, your just wasting your money. Of course someone could always prove me wrong.

I think one of the venders on here tested a pipe kit and quietly admited that they did not see any significant gains, that was quite a while ago so... I am sure with enough upgrades, turbo, etc, you might start to see some benifit, but I would do the intercooler before the hose/pipe kit. Also those rubber hoses seem to have a larger diameter and more gentle curves than all of the hard pipe kits I have seen.

If your going to spend that kind of money on a few bent pipes and hose connectors, at least go for a 3" setup and really do it right, ya know?

Just my .02 . When you do change those hoses, make sure that the clamps are damn, damn tight. I removed my upper hose/pipe to install an RMR aluminum intake. When I put them back, I thought they were tight enough.....WRONG. When I was passing up a car the damn hose to the throttle body popped off. So make sure they are really really tight!

Sorry, I can't remember who it was, or if it was in a thread or PM (I seem to use PM's more than the open threads). I just remember it being someone's opinion I would trust more than average, and it being a sleight increase.

If the re-enforced silicon hoses balloon less than the stockers, I can easily see how they might improve flow... I still can't believe how bad the stockers swell. Five hoses expanding a significant amount can't be good. However, I've seen no proof that the aftermarket hoses do indeed swell less.
