HKS EVC 6 wastegate flutter
Hi,
I have an australian delivered Evo IX with TBE + HFC, intercooler piping and a suction kit. Ive also been tuning it with ecuflash
I recently had an HKS EVC 6 installed by a professional, the initial setup is as follows;
Unit: Psi
Exhaust bypass: Swing Type value
Stock turbo pressure: 11.6 psi (stock actuator 0.8 bar)
Normal boost: 18 psi
Boost correlation: 100%
When i boost in higher gears (3+), i can hear and feel the wastegate fluttering open and closed. I tried upping the stock turbo pressure to 12, 13 and 14 psi but it still happens.
I turned the SAP (sensitivity) down to 2 and that seemed to make it a little better, but this is not an ideal situation as it increases my boost spike coming onto initial boost.
Does anyone know how i can fix this? I did a search and some people report that turning your stock turbo pressure up will fix it but it didn't in my case.

-Put the SAP back.
-Turn on Function 3
-Set your 5 RPM points (equally spaced at 300-400 rpm's apart), starting with the highest RPM, and working backwards.
-set the WG duty cyle for the RPM points, again working backwards.
-(100=1st RPM point 190=5th RPM point)
-1st RPM point should start right before it starts to flutter.

Im not sure how you would set the WG duty cycle? I can use the boost correction map to set correction boost, is this the same thing?
If it starts happening at about 2300 rpms, i should have the first rpm point at 2200, then 2500, 2800..etc?
Also, what values should i use for the WG duty cycle?

It doesnt happen in lower gears, just if I floor it at 2k in 5th.
In earlier gears you can hear it higher up a little.
What actuator pressure did you set it at? Its worse at 11 psi and a little better at 12 psi

OK try to set the actuator psi at 12.8-13.2 psi, I believe that is what I had it at when I was stock WG.
Any reason why you are only running 18 psi?

18 psi because thats just normal driving around, don't need too much power in traffic, the other is 22.
I noticed it when i just came on boost in 5th, didn't need to floor it, I was next to a wall driving along and I could hear it really loudly. Its really noticeable if you floor it in 5th though.
Ill put the actuator psi at 12.8 next time I get the chance.
