I've been using the e85 since 07 havent seen one tank of regular fuel since.
no gunk.

I have one thing to say about e85. It stinks badly! especialy if u dont run a cat the people behind you will back way off and make you think there is a cop up the street or somthing.

wow so defensive now in this thread. now back to cons of E85: gas mileage suffers, checking injectors for gunk periodically... etc.

Long story

Anyways it's cheap and easy to get by me but ams kinda threw me off.Its expensive to do, maybe not worth it for me now at the moment but in the ,long run it might be...Still thinking if I should do it or not..

pros are more boost, cheaper fuel, and cleaner emmisions.
cons are you waste more fuel, need bigger injectors and fuel pump, and not alot of places have e85

Here's a fun question for the E85 gurus.

I recently bought 10 gallons of the stuff (in two 5-gallon jugs) in anticipation of my tune at CBRD. Unfortunately, we ended up just tuning the car for 93 octane. So now I have 10 gallons of E85 in my garage with no tune to run it.

I have heard E85 does not keep very well for long (absorbs water). My question is, what should I do with it? Can I add it to my tank a little bit at a time (like one gallon to 13 gallons of 93)? If not, what is the best way to dispose of it? I would rather not have it possibly corrode my brand new 5-gallon jugs. I want to use them for E85 tune next year possibly.

Cheaper price and makes a whole a lot of power but they tend to clog up the injectors

Its amazing to see anyone who has E85 readily available giving this much consideration about whether or not to use it. Expensive? When considering the just cost of the injectors and fuel pump needed for E85, there's no mod out there that gives more horsepower per dollar. I suppose that when refuelling is considered, E85 could perhaps be expensive, but I think it depends on location. In the town where I used to keep my Evo, E85 was about 15% cheaper than premium, so after taking into account lower mileage with E85, it was about 5-15% more expensive than running pump gas. I still didn't consider it expensive though because of the additional safety margin and fun factor provided by a good E85 tune. In Portland, E85 is about 30% cheaper than premium fuel, so there's no additional refuelling cost to running E85. Gunk on the injectors? It depends on the source, and its happened to a few people. Never happened to me in the ~3 years I've been running E85.

Blitz - If E85 absorbs water, then formic acid (bad for the motor) gets released during combustion as the engine is warming up. As long as the container is air-tight, E85 will keep for several months. No prob to slowly add it to your tank over time if you want.

Guys/Gals

I recently got the HKS VPRO that has 4 maps to tune, two are being used already for 93 pump and 93 + meth.
Im thinking to do two more, e85 and e85 on meth. I know its no problem to do, but I was thinking of installing a separate gas tank in the trunk for e85.
can someone here point me in the right direction?
reason is only 2 e85 station in the whole state thats not convenient to use.

That would be a bad choice to run meth and e85 not wise dude.

Yes it's like using race gas without the cost you can run higer boost levels without the risk of knocking.

Really? I thought E85 might burn with less smell due to less emissions. Can anyone else comment on this?
