Shifter grease?

Can't seem to find an answer for this one. Hopefully someone can pass on some knowledge.

I have my center console remove for a few upgrades I have coming. 1 is the BR short throw shifter. I noticed the OEM shifter and some linkage has a grease compound on/around it.

Is this a special compound or just a basic grease? What should I get for the install or will something be provided?

Thanks for the advice in advance!!

I can take pics if needed but i doubt ill need too!!

I used some synthetic grease I found at autozone. I also bought some new pivot cups for the short shifter.

It is just your ordinary grease. I used a synthetic grease.

Pivot cups? Are you talking about the OEM retaining clip? Or are they something completely seperate?

I am pretty sure he is referencing the 2 little plastic cups that go on the bottom of the shifter and the left side. i can't remember the technical terms.
