Opinions on t3 .63 to .82

I wanted to know if anyone has ever done the swap? Going from a t3 .63 to .82 exhaust housing. I have a .63 on my sc61 right now and have a .83 sitting here and was trying to find out if the swap would be worth the money/time invested. The car is currently making 533 on pump and meth at 31 psi with a stock intake manifold. Any input is appriated

Here is the dyno graph, It doesnt seem to drop off to bad in power but wonder if the .82 will free up a good bit of top end power......

I guess it depends on where you spend most your time.

if you change the housing its just going to spool up later and you not going to see any big changes up top. what cams do you have.

Comp 280's. I already know what will happen to spool. I was looking to see if I may pick up 30+ hp, if not then im not going to bother. The car is pretty fun with the quick spool and im looking to make some more power without spending a ton of cash on a intake mani or something like that.

With a decent setup, I always see the opposite. Spool doesnt change a whole lot, but top end will definitely be better.

However, if the motor is near the limits of how much air it can move, the difference will be negligible.

go for the bigger hotside i no your turbo is not as new as some of the others (6262/hta3586) but the same benefits apply you will lose some spool but free up some back pressure and make more top end id go for it since you have it sitting around.

therse been a lot of info that normally says the .63 chokes up top but i beleive there hasnt been any testing back to back that ive seen that show that u can make much more horsepower on a .82 housing vs a .63 housing

.63 should spool much faster , better response
.82 will be a bit laggier , depending on how much your boosting

What the real difference is between .63 vs .82 , if the .63 is choking up at high rpms , if the.82 will actually make more horsepower and is is worth the extra LAG ... ?

Its hard to tell since there hasnt been a lot of info on .63 vs .82 housings

A .63 A/R T3 is comfortable capable of 600+whp, so I see no benefit to fitting a larger hotside unless you truly plan to push things beyond that figure. Unless you do that, there are no advantages to the larger housing, only disadvantages.

It was only 675ml of m5 meth. I would have liked to get up around 900ml to tune the car the way I like. It was at about 11.5 afr with 16 peak timing.

I changed from a .63 to a .82 on a PTE 6262.

I did as I wanted to pick up more top end.Spool was only about 100rpm later after turning up the gain a bit with the boost controller.

I did not see the gains up top as I discovered that the wastegate was only being held on with 1 botl so was dropping off boost at the top. The graphs met at about 6200rpm but the .82 then fell of drastically due to the leak.

Have since sorted out and will have it on the dyno in about two weeks to see if we have picked up the power .

I do feel that the .63 was better for daily driving ( I am on stock ecu and MAF).

Subscribed. Currently running .63 on my 2.4, 10:1 comp and spool is intense. Was also thinking about running an .82. Hmmm
