R is the dual ball bearing turbo.
We expect full boost to be around 4000rpm in the GT30R
Full boost in the GT35R is 4500-4700rpm.
The GT L2R Kit (GT30R) is going to be the perfect set up for a very very fast daily driver. The GT35R kit has a lot more potential, but at the cost of more lag.

If using pump gas, and ONLY pump gas, i.e. no 100 octane, no water/alcohol, no nos, is there a reason to run the 35 instead of the 30? From what I understand 540-550 crank or 430-460 whp is about all you can get on 93 octane pump. If the GT-30R will hit this mark on pump I do not see a reason to go with the GT-35R unless you are going to run one of the things above. Is this correct or not? I want to do one of the kits, I just want to make sure that I pick the correct one out of what is offered. How long until you guys can post up graphs comparing the 30 to the 35, hell for that matter graphs of all five kits including the t3/t4 combo's? I want the spool characteristics of the BB center section, but I am sure that people would like to see all of them. Sorry for all of the questions, but I am pretty sure that I am not the only one with these same questions.

There is a point of diminishing returns for pump gas turbos. In all honesty the GT30R is going to be right on the line you may only want to cross if you plan on using race fuels relatively often. It will still make more power on pump, but it may only make 20-30 hp on pump where as it will make 80-100 more hp on race. So is 25 hp worth 500 rpms in lag, maybe not.....but is 80 hp worth it?

actually, the GT30R is capable of putting down at least 430whp , at least thats what I hear. Of course, on 93 octane. It is closely related in size to the HKSGT3037 so 430whp should be ok. The GT35 on the other hand can put out over 500whp and blow the doors off the GT30, but you'll need race fuel. Any experts with experience with these turbos please correct me of im mistaken.

its extremely confusing once you look into the GT family of turbos. There are GT30 turbos that use a GT40 compressor, and there are GT35 turbos that use a GT35 compressor. In other words we have a wide variety of mixes available. From what I understand all GT series turbos are dual-ball bearing design. So I still dont understand what a GT35 -R is. What is the R spec indicate? For racing? If so , what makes them different. I expect all these questions be answered by the kit providers as they are very important when you need to choose between one or another kit. Thanks.

You shouldn't be looking at the gt turbos if they dont have an r at the end. The r stands for ball-bearing center.
There is only one gt35r. It uses a gt40 compressor wheel and gt35r turbine wheel. There are no wheel choices with this turbo. It is very hard to get your hands on one of these turbos.
Ther are many gt30r turbos. lots of wheel choices. Two different turbine sizes. A slew of compressor wheel choices. But anly a few have been shown to work well. Be looking here for a god turbo choice for your EVO8. The 35r is too laggy.

Our GT35R kit defintely isn't to laggy for the EVO. It actually works out pretty well.

Well said. My point exactly! If im planning on an all-out turbo for pump gas, then wouldn't the GT30 be the best choice? It would be cheaper and also faster as it wouldn't matter if the GT35 CAN produce more power if 93 octane is what calls the shots. To me I can't see why install a turbo that lags and can only work optimally on race fuel.
