Best clutch for 450whp?

the only thing iv heard bad about act puck clutches is they like to eat tranny's. I personally would go with a twin disc if your financially able. But something iv been noticing about twin discs is they dont last very long, it seems like half the ones for sale have shot discs and need rebuilt

again, my money is going for an ATS.
I would think the puck styles eating trans probably refers to how hard they grab. I don't find the ACT I am running to be very agressive. I don't see it eating up a trans, but who knows.

Thanks alot for all the info! As for the installation I have done some work with my previous cars, but have never pulled down a transmission. With that said, and now that I think about it, I don't have the tools or space to pull off something like that...
Nice to hear there is another option... Anyone else can tell me more or give me more info on the carbonetics?

I have been running the Carbonetics for 45k+ miles and it's still holding strong. It finally started slipping a couple of months ago, but it stopped slipping.
We shall see how much longer it will last.

FWIW... off a local forum in reference to the exedy @ about 6k miles:

keep in mind, any carbon clutch will slip until properly warmed up... could've just been a bit cold and you got on it a bit too much before it was properly warmed up

I was between the exedy and the ATS/carbonetics a few yrs back when I installed the HKS Fcon into my TT Z. The number of them he sold for the Z spoke for itself. Oddly kind of like the exedy is to the evo crowd. BUT this is how I know I made the right choice -> I went for a carbonetics, a fellow Z owner listened to another shop (that didn't know much about ATS/Carbonetics and the shop that did both our tunes) and went with exedy... his slipped on him last yr within 10k miles. After having driven both of our cars, the tuner flat out said, the ATS is the better clutch -> at least for the Z. I have not driven the ATS for the evo, but have driven the exedy and didn't car for it.
Again, your money, your decision. I just did a quick search on a local evo forum and found a bad experience, just reconfirming my past experience
