new clutch...whining noise
any have any idea? just installed a new exedy stage 1 clutch. car makes a whining noise when i'm in gear and let go of the gas. when i put my foot back on the pedal and accelerate the noise is gone. my mechanic is telling me that its because the Exedy clutches are crappy. He show me a Scion TC that he was working on with an Exedy clutch. That thing was broken into pieces. He said it might be the throw out bearing. Any ideas?? the noise is driving me nuts!!

I think I might have the same thing going on. When I release the clutch from the floor, there is a quick metal whining/squeaking noise and then again at the engagement point until I fully release the clutch. If you hold the clutch pedal down does it continue to squeak or does it just make one quick little chirp? If its a continuous loud squealing, its the throwout bearing. If its just one quick chirp, then you forgot to grease something (clutch fork, pivot ball, throwout bearing, input shaft, etc.)
