Do you have the soft spring? no preload? if not, get the soft spring
You mean the yellow one frome Synapse or from mil spec?

I am looking into getting one of these, but from reading through many of the pages here it seems like hardly anyone has been able to get this dv to work the way they want it to... Now I am reluctant and may just crush my ix dv.

Great DV. After experimenting with different settings for like a year, lol, this is what works for me:

Mil Spec softer spring, push mode, no preload, and both ports (A+B) hooked up to a boost reference.

Car is an 03' with a ported BBK Full, 26 psi, yada yada. Tried DV in pull mode (like stock, no preload) with port A hooked up and it would leak a little resulting in slower spool. With port B hooked up (also no preload) it would spool quicker but flutter like crazy part throttle.

It's all trial and error to get this DV to work properly with your configuration. Start by looking at the diagram in the manual and go from there. Hope that helps.

Soft spring, port A, and pull mode worked perfect. I can't get the valve to flutter at all. Thanks for the help!

I just installed my 2nd one a few days ago. Had one on my Evo 9 before, installed one on my X a few nights ago. Used the softer spring that came extra. Port B only, push mode. First try, worked like a charm. No flutter or any weird bucking.

Push mode would be installed just like the factory BOV, pull mode is reversed.

Yeah, that's the way it should be, but I keep seeing people saying that the stock BOV was in pull mode, and now theirs is in push, and that doesn't make any sense. So everyone is running these opposite of the way the stock one is setup with the A port plugged in?

For the synapse, from what I gathered, there is no right or wrong way. Which every works best with your setup. I've had good luck with using B port only, push

Push mode, port A, yellow spring, no preload. Why is my DV opening at 10 to 15 psi and i loose all boost. This never happened before? Did boost leak test, sure enough DV won't hold anything over 10 PSI. WTF any help please.

My car came with DV. It was tuned in this orientation with port B only A vented

I get bucking and surge so I flipped it and it seemed to run alot smoother on let offs but it has flutter when im all the way in it. Now since the car was tuned in that position does flipping the valve change afr's at all? I don't have a boost gauge so I can't tell if boost is changing. Still pretty confused with this valve.

what does port b only a vented?

no, changing the DV won't change anything on the tune

keep adjusting it until it doesn't flutter anymore on part throttle

if it flutters when you're all the way in it then it is likely a wastegate issue, not a DV issue

I just switched to speed density and I have the Mil-Spec spring installed in my DV. I can get some flutter especially during partial throttle. I can not remember I much preload I have on it at the moment.

what configurations are you guys running with speed density?

I have a BBK Full, Muse Short route UICP, custom 3.5" intake and the rest of mods are in my sig.

I want to bring this thread back to life mainly to point out something about the turbo spool behavior with this DV. I have tried both push and pull mode and for me the one that delivers the best spool is pull mode, port A, spring that came installed with and no preload, of course this would produce flutter at low boost but the point that I am trying to make is that this DV can help in spool of the turbo. (I have a BB FP black and GSC S2 cams)
I ended up using pull mode both ports connected to a boost/vacuum source with spring that came with DV, 2 turns of preload. I find the yellow spring is too soft making it a bit slow to respond in pull mode, I think it was leaking air to the intake and making it lost spool.
