First, use an OEM alternator like couple people stated already. Second, do a boost leak test. Like others have stated, there is no way you will lose over 10psi of boost over throttle body seals.

i went to a reputable shop they did my valvetrain perfect and my 60k service
there just tryna haggle with me bc they think im an idiot when im not

and STM is a 7hr drive from me

i do listen to people on the forum so relax .. but everyone on the forum thinks there master tuners and mechanics !! when in reality they dont know sh*t about cars

the shop were im at i know a hand full of people that have done buisness with them and there was never an issue

wat is an issue is this AFTERMARKET ALTERNATOR !!!

so leave the rudeness at home

and the boost leak was from a cut hose line which was fixed wit a tfitting and capped off and now the car has no boost leak issues

Thanks for sticking up for us. You are a gentleman!!

Car came in with a bad alternator. After giving the op 2 choices ( dealer or aftermarket) the op chose to go with the alternator at a discounted price. Fast forward almost 2 months later, the car is having electrical issues and blowing fuses. Op thought the issue was the alternator, but after replacing both the alternator AND battery, electrical issue persists......

After 2 hours of tracking wire harness, we isolated the problem. Aparently there was a cellphone/navigation charger hard-wired in to the driverside kick panel. This thing melted badly and created the electrical short. It was wired in by an amature as there was no fused link in the positive side of the wire harness.....

Now it's time to trace the shorted wire and see what else is fried.

Problem solved.

Good job guys, tracking down wire harness gremlins can be a PITA. Especially when deal with randomly installed crap.

I wasn't rude. Relax dude. Maybe I should have put some smiley faces behind my statements to make everything all better next time I try to help you out.

Since others asked what shop you took it to and you never answered (or I missed the answer), I figured you went to some regular shop. I never said you should go to STM, just an Evo reputable shop.

As far as your boost issue, I must have missed the post where you said you fixed it and it was NOT the seals.

So I think I'm just gunna trailer the car home and do the alternator myself bc I'm tired of hearing excuses from the shop and spending more money on trial and error

Bc the only reason why I'm blowing fuses and the battery is bc of the refurbished alternator bc that's the only thing that controls the output and build up of energy being put in my car

Also I think is funny you post this after my comment and then tell me to relax after I and others offered the same help.

Tach Motor Works, good job finding out the electrical gremlin.

I didn't know urkel was your tuner your in good hands..All we try to do is help your situation but when you keep telling us your car is gonna be fixed 100% perfect and it wasn't cause you had some other issues going on other then a boost leak and electrical problems that was never mentioned makes no sense..

i trust the shop im at and i trust they will do good work its just that i hate situations like this because at past experiences this is when u get raped in charges u know im just tryna avoid that situation but erkel is a good guy and the shop really does know what there doing so its all in there hands thats why i said the car will be fixed 100% bc wit erkel its gunna leave the way its supposed too .. i dont bring my car to just ANY shop especially my evo

i was on the evoM forum tryna see if neone had experiences wit my issue so that i can have a huntch to see wat im looking at what parts to replace or what areas need more attention thats all

thanks for all your help though !!

D. ACD unit fault – 3 solid lights

When your ACD unit has all three lights on at the same time (other than at startup), this means your car is reporting back to Mitsubishi headquarters that your warranty should be voided… Just kidding. As stated in your owners manual, this denotes some kind of error in the unit and it needs to be serviced. To service the ACD you need a very special, and very expensive tool from Mitsubishi. This tool is used to engage the ACD pump to bleed the lines. You may run into this issue if you are changing out your transfercase. (6)

just found the article on the forum
