"Speed Box" turbo upgrade!

Anyone seen this? Not yet released but looks promising. Finally, more cfm's for us boys who don't have 4-6 grand to spare! It would be great for daily driver/auto-x applications. Looks like it's a direct replacement, so it would retain stock O2 housing and manifold.

So it's a larger compressor/turbine wheel (TD06) in the TD05 housing? Any ideas on what costs would be for this? Sounds perfect for those who don't want a turbo "upgrade" to an actually larger turbo unit + all the misc extra parts.

It's a 20g wheel. I don't think it uses the td06 exhaust wheel, but i could be wrong. I think it jsut swaps the 16g wheel for the lh rotation 20g wheel (there aren't too many lh rotation wheels available) and machines the compressor housing to match. I can't belive this thing isn't more popular. It's been out for a while (www.turbochargers.com) and i have yet to see a review of it. It flows a lot more than stock while keeping spool reasonable. I would call or e-mail turbochargers.com as I am sure they have sold some and put them on the awd dyno that they have. Plus i think their pricing is much better because they supply most vendors with their mits. turbos and get the parts cheaper.

If you send your turbo to turbochargers.com they will upgrade it for $625. I would be all over this if i had an evo. I would throw a 3 in turbo back on there, the 20g, some injectors(may not be needed) and have it dynoflashed. The thing would look completely stock internal wise but should throw down 400 awhp. Lets see: 625 for turbo
750 for exhaust
350 for injectors
110 for pump
500 for reflash
2200 for a strett cleaner
You tell me what would hang with that for that kind of coin!

Buschur tried the Turbochargers.com upgrade and gave it a poor review... David said something about they had made some suggestions that they hoped the company would try, to fix the problems... he didn't post what the "problems" were...

Do you now where the review is posted so i could check it out? I wonder what his concerns would be. The only thing that i could see would maybe be the hot side not flowing well but it would still be a big power hike over stock. I know Buschur is a big fan of clipping the exhaust wheel on mitsu turbos to gain i the high end......

That sucks that David did not like it, I respect his opinion and I believe that he would be using it if it did work. It looks like a good idea though, I wonder not only what his suggestions were but if they will follow them?

While I have no personal experience with turbochargers.com, I've heard a few people who have had a less than favorable experience with them.

Otherwise, I'd agree with you that they're offering a good deal. I'm usually not impressed though until I see some actual dyno numbers.

The post was sidebar in another discussion... I wouldn't know where to start looking, or I would have posted it. If I remember right, there was nothing more than "it didn't work well... we made some suggestions".

I believe david also stated the turbo didn't make more power. The wheel they use is not a 20g, it is some weird looking 9 blade non splitter thing. Stay away from this turbo.

Yeah I saw the prototype wheel this summer and it was a crazy looking many bladed wheel, Buschur is currently testing their new set up I believe.
