Fuel options
I have a single walbro in my car right now. I want a change as well as a more secure fuel system for increased power in the future. My setup is:
2003 TB Evo 8
2.4 engine
10:1 compression
Built head with GSC 2 cams
Ported exhaust manifold
3" TBE
Evo 9 turbocharger
FIC Bluemax 1680cc injectors
and the other typical modifications
stock computer
E85
I plan on:
MAP Rev3 ported manifold
possible FP Black
What I want to know is, can you fit a bosch 044 pump in the tank with some modification to the hanger? I looked EVERYWHERE and cant seem to find anyone that talks about this. If I can't do that, I have a 20,000 mile OEM pump that I may put in, and build a fuel surge sytem in my trunk with dual 044 pumps. It is mainly a street car, but will see the track (both drag and road course) from time to time.
I know that the fuel surge tank system is radical, but I have the resources and ability to build it, and it is a cool system, as well as covering any fuel need I may require in the future.
I am not sure how I feel about the dual pump systems like Full Blown or Buscher. I am sure they are high quality, but I am not a fan of the sound and (seemingly) reliability of walbro's. I am also not a fan of a walbro feeding an 044 mounted in the engine bay because of the noise made from sucking through the walbro and a fuel filter.
So mainly, does anyone know if I can fit an 044 in a tank? If not, how streetable is an fuel surge system with dual 044's?
Hopefully this turns into a nice discussion thread comparing and contrasting the strenths and weaknesses of different fuel systems.
Thanks,
Dan

Our new DeatschWerks 300LPH pump will be available after the first of the year. It is an in-tank pump sized similar to many of the OEM fuel pumps. It has a 39mm body and should be a relatively easy install on a Evo8/9.
On of the more recent tests had 1 of our DW300 pumps and a set of our Hz 1500cc injectors in a 4G63 AWD DSM. The car put down 620awhp on E85 rolling on a DynoJet.
