I think you should call any of the big name Evo builders and find out, but I don't think anyone uses 2G blocks for Evo builds.

DSM blocks wont work. To much stuff is just different. Somewhere there's a thread with models of cars with 2.4l blocks that work for Evo's.

2.4 YOU need a wp spacer, block off 3 water passages, find a tb that works... just doesnt sound to promising

Blocking off coolant passage is easy, TB doesnt need to be changed, and water pipe spacer? Not sure on that one.

You need to drive a 2.4 sometime. The extra torque off boost and quicker spool is amazing in a DD.

DO NOT USE A 2G BLOCK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the oil passages were changed on the 2g 4g63 blocks to allow the oil squirters to get oil first before the main bearings. this was a common failure for crankwalk in the 2g's.

how do i know>>?? i had one....my GST started to crankwalk but was withing tolerance. another fella had a fully built forged block. fired it up and had minimal oil pressure. spun a rod bearing...a oil squirter stuck open and caused the rods to be starved for oil.

find an EVO block or a 2.4 truck block from a import engine recycler . they dont have the oiling issues.

good luck.

You mean like a Fuso truck block? I'm not sure which "Canter" or whatever came with a gas 4G64T, but I would be leery of those too. A lot of times they'll have a different bolt pattern for the bigger truck style transmissions. But I can see using one could be an advantage. Which model has it?

i dont think it was a Fuso....my parents had a mitsubishi mighty max mini truck with that 2.4 block. it was a single cammed engine.

there was a local fella that was building one for his GSX Spider. only one of its kind. a 2.4block , a 2g Spider(convertable), and GSX drive train....had all the parts to finish but i think he ended up selling it to some road racer in southern California.

the 2.4 was in before the GSX drivetrain. lemme tell ya....it was fun.

IIRC the mighty max has a wide bolt pattern on the transmission and theres some 2.4l out there with a matching wide pattern for the swap. Been several years since Ive really read about it, but I know theres a difference for the mighty max when doing rwd.

Yeah, that's what I thought too. There was a 2.4L in a few early Montero Sports and I'm pretty sure those have the bigger bolt patter for RWD truck style transmissions and aren't a viable swap either.
