She's better off getting loans which you can help her pay for...it's a hedge against future uncertainly which could leave you without a girl and a car

ON TOPIC:

Mikey,

whenever I get around to finishing my MIL.SPEC build, I will try and see how close to your numbers I can get on 91 just for the fun of it

You guys gotta take Mikey's results with a grain of sand lol hes running a 2.4 with 10:1 or 10.5:1 compression, and its tuned on E85. Not a typical setup for the DD lol.

A more reasonable idea of what a good FPBlack build would be is another local guy who is running a 2.4 with I think 8.5:1 on 92oct. He made 520 or so whp at ~33psi, and it has SICK response. His black spools almost as fast as my stock IX turbo, but makes 150 more whp.

PS Mikey, you sell that car, and I swear to God that I will drive out to Whidbey, and beat your junk until it turns to mush.

If you are keeping the boost profile identical (from Red to Black) you really won't be gaining that much hp as you were operating the Red in its efficient range. That said, by the fact you have taken your IDC from 85% to 100% tells you that you are moving more air and needed more fuel, therefore you should be making more hp.

IMHO, given the same car, where the benefits are really seen is by turning up the boost ~10 hp / 1 psi (if in the efficient range). It has been documented before the Black should make 20 - 40 whp more than the Red (same car, same boost)....

OP you can PM me ill take a look at your tune/rom and give you my opinion if you want. I usually see around 70whp or more with red to black at the same boost.

Also ---------- my 2.3L @ 25psi made 590whp also (but omni 4 bar showed boost creep to 29psi)

understand i gained 50WHP by changing from the same FMIC you have now to my garrett 3.8" (Buschur Race) .. you can make 600 at low boost also im pretty certain with my tuning and a better FMIC + more injector.

I have lots of data over here of the perrin vs garrett core at certain boost levels.. the perrins fine until you attempt to run a certain boost level then you start really bottlenecking your setup bad. 2.8" endtank inlets arent exactly fp black turbo friendly.

keath how are you complaining about a powerband? your making 34-35psi by 4300-4400rpm on a 2.0L.. you can rev to 9500rpm and get the same powerband as us.. your car isnt exactly spooling the black slow.. is the response that much worse then the red? i never got a chance to notice the two back to back because i went from a red on a 2.0L to a black on a 2.3L. how much difference does the black feel vs the red in your honest opinion.. light to light, cruising, etc.. im curious?

BTW i am only running 30 psi right now and still running at 510hp..

91 oct at 28psi made 450...
450 thats pretty good. considering that was my base map. send me the info to that or post it inside the dyno section thread.

so just get the FMIC only so you can make more power with less boost that way the turbo last longer and remains in its efficiency range.

I am probably not getting FMIC untill next feb..
but really, does it really reduce the life of the turbo??
i thought black was designed to run 35psi

and i'll send you me complete map-file.
