Walbro fuel pump failure?!?

So I didn't know where to post this but whatever...

Long story short, I bought a fuel pump from a vendor here, installed it and now i can't drive more than 20ft without the car shutting off...oh did I mention I'm actually stranded in the middle of the road right now 20 miles away from my house.

Anyways I called a tow truck already but I want to see how common this was.

Not the most reliable pump, but not the worst. Most problems are from install errors.

Sorry to hear Luis. What was the problem and why did you change your fuel pump? Did you go with a double pumper?

I have had a couple problems over the years with Walbros. I like to do them with the install kit on the Evos, But, I have had a few fail on me. A couple failed on my Buick Turbo Regal in an ATR double-pumper and a couple have failed on my Evo as well. They are relatively inexpensive however. I always carry a spare Walbro in the trunk of my Evo.....just in case.

Wait, so it's an intermittent problem? The car shuts off every 20ft?

Well I installed another pump that I had, I probably messed up something on the install, it kinda messed up my end of the year track day though. Still not sure if it's the pump, the car is running now though. I'm gonna go read the how to see what to see what happenned.

Oh Pete, i bought a 255 thinking that I had a knock off Walbro 190 in there(previous owner installed), turns out it was a 255 . I guess I just have to get a hanger now to get a Double Pumper kit, I'm running out of fuel with my 1000cc and my single pump.

I had a walbro also arrive dead new from a vendor, they replaced it and the issues were solved. Walbro sucks for customer support though, go through a reputable vendor so they'll help you out. Good luck
