It's not necessary, but I have one for piece of mind. The reason that ebay one is so cheap is becasue it might be a fake.

Darn it, that link sucks, but that RX-7 is nice. Apex used to have info there on how to spot the fakes, but it's missing. Maybe give them a call if you are really interested.

Not really. I have the GReddy one, and pretty much as long as your not flying up your driveway and shutting it off instantly, you're not doing any harm.
Save your money and just let it idle for 10 seconds. Long road trips or hard driving idle for a couple minutes and you'll be fine.
