I didn't have the vipec then, so the logs would be through Evo scan... which I still have, but I don't know if the resolution is good enough to really make good inferences from the data.

From my butt I can tell you that the Stock Evo 9 turbo is a turd for transient response compared to my 7670... absolute TURD. Even on ethanol.... still a turd. The FP Green was by far the worst turbo for transient response relative to turbine wheel diameter. It was atrocious. The HKS turbo's transient response was pretty good... but then again it makes a 120+ less horsepower than the EFR does.

In other news... I stumbled across a 7064 at work today. Just sitting on a shelf. I don't know what will become of it...but it would be splendid to do a comparison against a GTX small frame turbocharger on the engine dyno.

I've found that too, even though boost threshold on my car is about 2800rpm, it really needs to be above 4000rpm to get "instant" response out of it.
And if you're not lightning on the shifts it does die off.
That EFR 7163 is looking pretty good for our cars

THe 7163 with the 1.05 T4 housing would be pretty cool.

Maybe this has been posted & I missed it but..

What is the weight of these turbos, I'm most interested in the 7064 EWG

i'm not sure, but the new 7163 has an alloy centre core which reduces weight by 2lbs.

When you say your car needs to be above 4000rpm, what displacement, mods and fuel are you running?

What turbo did we do that testing on the dyno with?

looking at our aem logs i get the stock IX turbo at 180 ms boost recovery time on a lifting shift.

Yea, just got off the phone with sales at Full Race. They stated this summer. They had no information on availability and wait times though. They are really shooting themselves in the foot with these availability issues.

what boost level? Making it to 360kpa is different than 240kpa...

and the turbo speed acceleration is far different as well. Just sayin...

yours is WOT, lift, WOT... I'm saying steady state to WOT... less heat for sure.

totally agree. I think my 360kpa response time is approximately infinity though. It just seems this thread is short on comparisons so i'm trying to get some data out there. you've got to have some low boost 1-2 shift recovery data to compare with?

I dug up this post:

@5500 RPMS in 3rd gear my car gets to
180kpa in 6ms!
240kpa in 103ms!
270kpa in 214ms!
300kpa in 305ms!

Just so you can figure these numbers at I'm seeing 300kpa (29.4psi) of boost in 3 tenths of a second.
When i get a chance I'll try and log some data that replicates this test. i might also try an rpm that i at least have a shot at getting somewhat comparable boost levels, like 4500 or something. I'm actually quite interested to see how a car that is supposed to be "optimized" for turbo response on a stock turbo compares with the holy grail of turbo response.
