Ha, sorry for this digression. I was just looking at some OEM turbos for some reason and thought, "Yeah they use tiny turbos, but if you had the turbo setup sorted out for what you wanted, you could build a sweet turbofold. It would be lighter and it would eliminate the most common failure of the turbo system."

I went to the extent of using Hastelloy studs and saftey-wiring all the turbo hardware on my last setup just because I've had so many issues in the past. Be it lousy fastener material that end up galling or vibration loosening everything, I've lost a decent number of turbo bolts in the past and this would eliminate that issue.

I got my car running and hopefully I will be able to show some information on the efr8374.
It should be on the dyno in the next few weeks if everything goes well. My mods are...

2.0L
grp alum rods
Wiseco hd 10.5:1
Arp L19 head studs
Arp main studs
Stock head with crower single valve springs
Hks 272's
Magnus V5 cast Intake manifold
Boomba throttle body
2.5" hot pipe, 3" cold pipe
Forge high boost wastegate
Efr 8374 single scroll t3 internally gated 0.83A/R
And it will be tuned on e85.

I've been thinking about that for a while, because it would be a way for me to use the T3 single-scroll stuff I already have. Otherwise I would have to start all over. It will be next year before I do anything though. It would make some things a lot easier. Using a T31 style turbine housing on my car (1990 Talon) makes for about the most compact install possible. I wouldn't have to relocate the oil filter for example (sideways air-cooled stock 1990 oil filter arrangement).

I'm pretty sure you should just use this:

That treadstone housing looks real nice, stainless steel, and close to $500 in price.
Looks like the outlets are always V-band and I suppose made to match up with 3" diameter tube.

The manifold and O2 housing I have are the ones made by Ron Shearer a few years ago, made to fit a T31 turbine housing with 2.5" 4-bolt turbine outlet to a downpipe flange in the stock position. His idea was that it is so tight in that area of the car, that you can't get a decent mandrel bend on a 3" pipe to go around the bend, coming out of the turbine. If the turbine wheel has an exducer diameter of about 2.5" or less, it should be good to use 2.5" tube to go around that bend. That compact bend, combined with the very short T31 outlet, makes for a very compact and smooth way to get around that first bend. So he made the O2 housing like that.

Then, if you want a smooth and graceful way to get from the 2.5" O2 housing up to 3", you do that in the vertical part of the downpipe. On my car I would whack off the top several inches of the downpipe and weld in a ~7 degree 321 stainless transition like one of the SPDexhaust transitions - I'll post a pic if I can get image shack to work.

For a EFR 7670, GT30, GT35, this should work ok! EFR 8374 I probably wouldn't, because the exducer is bigger than 2.5" on that turbine wheel.

There aren't any that I know of yet and I have spent a lot of time searching.

I will let you know when mine is up and running :-)

I've also searched here and on lancerregister and I didn't found anything... Please share that with us, and good luck with your build

I did some digging this afternoon for information on the 7163 and found this video. Sounds like a pretty tantalizing turbo for the street. Still trying to understand whether the mixed flow turbine wheel is something new with the 7163 or whether its in all the EFR turbos.

EDIT: The 7163 is now in matchbot as well.
