Technically speaking, modding cars is a "waste of money." But here we all are. On a car forum. Modifying our cars

Now that I'm retired, I also have the luxury of "wasting" a little time here and there. I think I'm going to "waste" some time right now!

Guys get too caught up in numbers sure the stock replacement stuff will make the numbers but how will it drive compared to an EFR?
I will be reporting back in the next couple of weeks when i finish my manifold and exhaust. Will only be stock block with a 7670 and 1.05 rear but im still pumped to see what the efr hype is all about

CBRD put a 7163 on a IX "26 psi netted 401whp/332wtq- on the 7163- in 90 degree heat and high humidity- the same car was around 329whp at 25.5 psi on the stock turbo- " https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...l#post11481041

I am considering a 7163, but its a big chunk of change for 400whp on pump. The hp per dollar is just tough to swallow. Especially when for the same money you can go with a 8374.

I want to see a graph. I'm more concerned about what the curve looks like than the overall power. I'm not really looking for much more peak hp then where I'm at now, maybe 50whp more, but getting peak boost and peak torque 500-700 rpms faster would be amazing. I see 20psi at 4k, and 32.5psi at 4500 right now, It hold 30ish out to 7k, and then drops to 27 at 8k as the turbo is overcome by backpressure.

400whp on pump, on a mustang dyno is damn impressive. That's more than what an FP Red will do, and the car had stock cams and a high flow cat. As Chad said, cams and test pipe would be worth about 30whp on that car. Pushing it very close to the number my car made with a red on E85, except that car is on pump gas..

This is a mixed flow turbine wheel so it is a little different than the off the shelf 8374 turbine wheel. It can actually flow as much as the 80 or more.

5880 elevation, DA was 8100+. The car was at 30psi or so as a result so it was far from full power.

Now that's some interesting news. Is there an 8370 with MFT turbine?
