It sounds great in theory, but the practical application didn't quite work out. Garret's version was a little clumsy in reality. IMHO it's not easy to fit twin entry volutes in the space of a V-band clamp and flange. A T4 flange provides plenty of space for a gradual transition between manifold runners and turbo.

So much easier to assemble and disassemble, at least that's my experience on exhaust locations further down stream from the motor. However, I don't have experience with how well they survive in an upstream location where temperatures are much higher.

The some attraction as vband over any bolt together flange. One nut and everything is apart. And that nut but rarely ends up seizing up.

No option from CBRD for twin scroll. I looked at a full race kit with a
Twin scroll housing but when I called the person I talked to on the phone
Rubbed me the wrong way. So my next option was CBRD. I have to say I'm am
Happy with the quality.
Turbo is on. Just need to finish a few little things then it getting a retune
On the 1st.
Will be interesting to see the difference between my old hks 7460R and this new
EFR7163.

It looks like we are well on the way to having a decent data sample of 7163s.

I'm looking forward to seeing your results Brian, my t/s 7163 is scheduled to hit the dyno later next month.

All done with the install. So far I'm really liking this turbo.
From the little driving have havw done the turbo is supper snappy at
Only 1/2 throttle and letting off my 5K. Seems to spool faster then my
Hks 7460R. But will know for sure on the 1st as it will be on the dyno.

Transient response sounds intruiging. Looking forward to hearing how it feels with a complete tune and seeing dyno data. Since you are PDX local, could I get a ride or drive?

How about we plan a day at the Ridge? Would love to ride along for a couple laps.

Make sure if you get the IWG EFR's that you're using the Turbosmart actuator with a LOT of spring in it. Probably 1.5-2 times the rate of the boost you want.... and at least 6 turns of preload.

If you want to run 14psi base, you're going to need all of 26psi worth of spring.

I just put an Evo on the dyno with a 7163 and the "medium pressure" canister from BW and we made 20psi peak tapering to 10psi at redline.

That's really good to know. Glad I got the TS 26psi now.
