You ought to stop by EvoD and speak with Kevin on the subject, he will definitely point you in the right direction.

Good Point-- I know Kevin and he has tuned my car in the past. Your right he is well versed and would be a good guy to ask an opinion of.

If you don't run your car low on oil your bearings should last, I ran 1/2 quart over so I never had to worry about the oil pickup running dry... also if you keep tq below 400 your rods will last, and last, don't load the car up in low rpms in a high gear. Those are the three best things anyone can tell you.

I ran 540hp stock block for almost 2 years and never had a problem. When we took the motor apart it looked like new!

The majority of failures we have seen are rods. We are beginning to see bearing failures now though. Not sure if its cars that are uncovering the pickup or bad luck. They have been cars that shouldnt be able to pound bearings out, it looks more like oil starvation issues.

Thx--was hoping to hear from some of the shops and builders--your comments/insight are /is appreciated. Just trying to get to the specifics of the bottomend failures so I can be educated and prepared in the event a failure comes my way-- doesnt sound like its going to be a simple and cost effective fix--instead you get a complete rebuild. lol. Thx

Is there any possible negative side affects to running a 1/2 over?
