Oil Cooler

Hi I drive an 03 Evo GSR. Is there a difference between an OEM Oil Cooler and the Oil Cooler's O'Reilly's and Autozone sells? My motor blew when I bought my Evo and now I have a new motor to swap in and am in need of a replacement Oil Cooler. I've looked for one locally can't find one and leave for the Air Force next week so short on time to finish this and get the car up and running. Any advice would help thanks!

So an Oil cooler is an Oil cooler essentially correct? No problems with thickness or core? As long as it does the job?

Well I would not say that....Setrab is a GREAT cooler. There are some nice kits on the market that fit the stock location. If you try to fab your own, you'd better have some basic skills and patience and in the end I doubt you will save that much money (over buying a nice setup)...

STM makes an oil cooler kit with everything you need. I run it on my own car... good price as well.

The STM one is slightly smaller than stock. I would get the map one I believe it uses the same core as the AMS kit but cheaper.

I ended up going with a 13x10 setrab since I'll be using a half width radiator but it will require custom mounting.

You also have the option of going with Mishimoto's oil cooler and fabbing up your own kit

The store won't have one that will attach to the stock lines. The stock cooler is a funky setup.
You should have sent yours out to be flushed when the motor work started.
