Take a look at my thread about transmission rebuild, you can see what worn parts look like.

Standard value:
Input shaft end play: 0.05 − 0.17 mm (0.0020 − 0.0067 inch)
Output shaft preload: 0.13 − 0.18 mm (0.0051 − 0.0071 inch)
Center differential case preload: 0.05 − 0.11 mm (0.0020 − 0.0043 inch)
Those tolerances are the ones I followed when reassembling my tranny, I stayed a bit more to the tighter side of them, later this evening I can link the the trannsmission service manual if it isn't already linked in your thread.

i stayed right at the tolerences, i have had only one problem shifting and thats 1st was tuff when it was Really cold out [oil issue, or clutch adjustment] once warm it was butter, after rebuild my center diff went out [1.5k miles] due to Tcase issues [bad ACD clutches?,BAD Pinion&ring], shaft spun HARD in the center diff and jacked it up so bad it dont hold the shaft properly now and it leaks output tube is also cracked, NEW Tcase and quaife center diff being installed soon after my thumb heals.

U stayed right at the tolerances? Anywhere in between those dimensions is within tolerance.

it was pretty tight, everything was at the tighter end of the tolerences. but it went together smooth. ill have it apart again in about a week or so or when ever my new quaife center diff gets here, so ill get some pics and see how things are wearing in.

Hey guys, OP here. I never check tolerances, since I was only replacing the input shaft bearing. I simply removed the "extra" shim that was causing the input shaft to not move at all. after removing that shim, it moved freely without any play. It's been two years and 27k miles since I created that post and it's still running strong. notchy as hell, and it grinds sometimes from first to second at low rpm's when shifting fast. autox, high rpm shifts, no grinds ever.
