From FP's website regarding FP Black...

It features an 82mm HTA™ compressor wheel with a flow rate of 68lb/min

Yes we know this. This is why u said they are a bit under rated.

^ I never said they were under rated

Without comparative data it is a pointless debate. Either the flow of the compressor wheel is under rated, your hp numbers are over rated or perhaps a bit of both.

Do you guys have any idea if there is any 3 rd party doing a proper test on the GTX Garrets??

In SA the guys are also scepticle about the power claims and are waiting for people to test them first before jumping in

The GTX42 has been put on a GTR R33 with great results by a local tuner but that is a big *** turbo and did not take the place of a GT42 so no comparison can be drawn up. it did a 329km over 1km (road car)

Changing the housing to 0.82 is not going to break the bank and maybe i will stick with it until some cars are having great results with the GTX , or look into the FP turbo's .The FP is not very popular in SA due to not many shops/tuners pushing them.

Plenty of shops have tested them with good results. Here is one example:

I know a bunch of people who have switched and been happy, Ive used them on a few of my cars and they work well. Even a big turbo shop I know uses them a lot and has nothing but great things to say about them, especially on diesels.

mmmm nice
Sounds like he way to go

Will speak to the builder about the upgrade of the turbo to GTX ,but only in a few months,
Will get the .82 housing in the meantime anyway as this will go on the GTX in the future as i can sell my AMS kit together with the GT3076 .63 housing

Wow, Ford Focus making 600+HP - Evo's are gona Love this Turbo...

I currently have a HTA3076R just waiting to see if its a worthwhile upgrade over the FP turbo, and so far its looking good...

Although on a 2L, I like the AMS T3.63 - it comes ported from AMS so I'm thinking GTX30 bolted into the AMS .63 housing...

now the builder has suggested i upgrade housing to .82 with the car reving to 9K now . but i am a bit worried about lag with the .82 am i worried about nothing?

Car is used for trackdays and hillclimbs ,NOT a daily drive

Suggestions ??
For the OP, no FP doesn't sell the 5 bolt .82AR for the AMS kit but ATP turbo does sell just the hotside. Contact Tiago at VR-SPEED (www.vr-speed.com) and ask him to get it for you, he'll get you a way better deal than the website. While I won't have the 3076 back to back tests done, I will have the HTA86 (AMS spec GT35R upgraded by FP) back to back tests done in the next few days (as soon as my hotside gets in) and I'll add my info to this post. My block is basically built, stock head porting, magnus v5, 2150's, maf set-up, Kelford 272's, dual springs, all the standard bolt-ons.
