buschur motor after a hard day of racing

i have a buschur shortblock and i took it to the track yesterday and launched it 4 times then i went out and did like 6 highway pulls, aside from driving the car the whole day. I checked my oil in the morning and i was perfect then i checked in the mroning the day after i raced the car and i am about 1/2 to 3/4 low on oil. Is this a normal thing with a built mottor after ragging on an engine all day?

first off, if you checked it at different temps the level will change. also i assume you have a catch can? if you do i bet some of the missing oil is in there. a small amount is totally normal.

how is the crankcase ventilated? no matter what, a built mtor will consume some oil, but if the breather system isnt plumbed correctly, you could be filling your turbo, piping and intercooler with oil.

im no expert but beating on the engine all day is abnormal abuse on the oil I would assume.. no chance to cool down constantly at high temps..I would expect it to burn some off. But 3/4 quart is quite a bit.

I suspect there are more things at play here. A build motor will consume some oil....but not even close to that much. What is the car pushing for power? have you ever have issues with crank case ventilation??

talk to your builder, who will now thae engine better than the builder and who will be more educated to help you than the builder and yourself.

Its normal for them to burn some oil.. keep good eye on it and you should be fine. you really should upgrade your crankcase pressure setup also.

Ya improper ventilation results in oil being burned.. hell i had oil being pushed up my turbo return line and burning off inside the center housing rotating assembly.

You definitely wanna vent the motor! I drilled a 5/8" hole in my valve cover and all my issues went away!

Doesn't sound normal at all. If that's the normal oil consumption rate, then imagine if you went on a road course where you are WOT much of the time for 25 minutes straight. You'd be burning a couple quarts a session! Something has to be wrong somewhere, though it might not be the short block itself, as others have said.
