Transfer Case Swap cost

What is a reasonable price to pay a shop to swap out my transfer case in my 04 EVO? I have the replacement case, just need the whiny one removed and good one put in.

What did you pay?

That's what I was thinking and hoping for, something around 250. I called a local specialty tuning shop and the guy was trying to say it would be $600-$800 because of "all the fluids", seals, etc. etc.

I don't think he had a clue.

I seen your from Upstate, NY. I don't know how far from Rochester, NY you are but I'm am 110% positive that if you called STM, they'd take care of you. Give them a shout if your relatively close by, it'd be worth it to stop there just to see the monsters being created!

Yeah I get all my work done at EvoDynamics in Texas, and KevinD prices everything VERY reasonable. Never takes advantage of you either and tells you what other mods to do while he is in there so it keeps cost down and avoids paying double labor. I had never dealt with STM until yesterday when I needed a part. Part was cheap and shipped the same day. i hear great things about STM and Emery, so I think he would be the best bet living in NY. Good luck!

They are about an hour and a half away. Wish they were closer, but may call them and see if we could work something out. Also need the fluid, so may at least get that from them.

Thanks.

An hour and a half is worth the trip for a reputable shop like STM.

If I can set it up to be done in a day, may make the trip. Check out their shop, and wait for it.

Shouldn't take more than 3-4 hours at the most right? Just to take it out and put in my used one.

Thanks for pointing in our direction guys!

Swapping out the T-case is about a two hour job. With fluids and everything it should be around the 250 mark or cheaper. We can do it while you wait no problem. Feel free to give us a call and set something up.

Thanks
-Em

I will do that.

Probably won't have the replacement transfer case until the end of this coming week or early the following week.

I will call when I have it and make an appointment.

Good decision. Transfer case swap is not difficult for a professional and its not fun for one man in a garage, under an Evo on Jack stands. Hire a pro.

And at the moment our garage is kind of cluttered with furniture and other things, just moved 2 months ago. Waiting for nicer weather to clean it out good.

So having someone else do it is the way to go.
