4K-9K RPM Power Band.

Hey guys,

I'm planning on getting a built short block and a turbo kit for this year and I'm trying to figure out what I wan't out of it and how to get there. As the title says I'm looking to have a power band from 4K-9/9.5K rpms with decent spool and a turbo that can hold the power all the way to 9/9.5K. The goal would be about 500whp on 93 octane. Which engine/turbo combination would suit me better? I had a built 2.0 in mind since I know it can easily rev to 9/9.5K. However, I'm having trouble figuring out the turbo I should use...

Thanks in advance

fp black/red is probably your best bet. for pump gas and especially the powerband you are after.

Not holding spool to redline with a stock frame turbo. They taper off more so then the bigger turbo's. You're looking at maybe a 6262

Thanks for the imput. However, I've heard that the Red/Black won't hold till 9K. Do you think the 6262 would start going at 4k?

Your not going to find a powerband that FAT.. Stock frame dont make power at 9k and t3s dont make full power at 4k.. A fat powerband is 3k-3500 RPM.. 5k is not possible..

I see... So, what would you recommend Mike? What set up would have the fattest power band for 500 whp on 93oct? Also, what's the fattest power band you have seen and what setup they were using?

Thanks!

Thanks for the info! Do you think this would be any different on a 9? Was this done in a 2.0l?

For some reason i thought this was the X section sorry.. A built IX should see 500+ no problem on pump w/ a 2L engine if you have all the right parts..

I'm having a LR2.0L built - I too am hoping for a similar powerband.
I think the new EFR 7670 is going to go on mine.
