if you install an open air intake, wouldn't you be running it more lean instead of rich? i thought more air = leaner mixture?

any thoughts?

Yes, your mixture will lean out a tad, this is how intakes create power with our MAF system.

it would actually lean out? I thought it would actually make your car run rich, 'cause the engine is getting more air, thus it thinks it needs to add more fuel. Am I wrong?

Easiest way to make sure its not backwards is to make note of the orientation of it when you took it out, Digital photo works best..

And you'll frequently see documentation shows the stock DV backwards, I don't know why, but almost everyone has done it at least once.

yea, the only way your intake is making power is by leaning out the af mixture. Id like to see what the maf readings look like from running this filter.. You are probably running lean in the 3500-4000 range.

If you live in AZ or in any place with dusty conditions you should buy the K&N drycharger. This is a cover that goes over the filter for a prefilter. At most it might rob 1-2 hp. And if your racign at a track just take it off for the day (it just pulls over the filter no tools needed).
