5 spd-6 spd bell housing interchangeable?

5 spd-6 spd bell housing interchangeable?
Searched and could not find anything. Received a transmission damaged thanks to UPS and wanted to know if I can interchange a 5 speed bell housing into a 6 speed with no modifications? They both look the same, but my 5 speed is enroute to sheptrans so can't compare the two right now. Thanks in advance.

I believe the bellhousing on a 5 speed is actually bigger then the 6 speed bellhousing, only reason I remember is because I thought it should have been the other way around.

I believe they are the same size, just different internals obviously.

I called a few transmission shops and they said they're different.

They do not look the same from the outside. The 6-speed housing has all these metal fins whereas the 5-speed is more plain-looking. I'm pretty sure the 6-speed takes less fluid as well, although this could be because the internals take up more room? I'd ask Shep or TRE.
