vr1 is on the list.. i used vr1 to break my engine in with the black installed and all is well.
if i was limited to a 10w40 id just buy supplies of Amsoil SAE 10W-40 Synthetic Premium Protection Motor Oil Product Code: AMOQT-EA
I run brad penn 20w50 though personally (built engine).

Im sure it will be ok with VR1, but im not running that oil ever again after seeing the inconsistent blackstone reports from it. Brad penn is the best oil for the price hands down.

yes i know that.. I was just giving more info regarding oils.. and if you want to know why the fp black and red are so sensitive to oil its because theres a steel on steel thrust bearing design. the red and black are built to withstand 35psi+

Here's our oiling requirements in a nutshell and these only apply if you're running a Red or Black JB turbocharger.
- Use the thickest viscosity oil your climate will allow.
- Avoid any GF-4/5 compliant oils as they are emissions based.
- Choose an oil that has a higher zinc and phosphorus content.
If you have one of our BB units the turbo nor us care what oil you use as long as there's a clean steady supply to the turbo.

I bought into a recommendation once to run 20-50 before hitting the track once. The oil was so thick i could hear the bearings lifters and everything else clicking and rattling since the oil couldnt get into the clearances. I have alway ran a factory weight oil. And i can say with absolute certainty that if your motor is "built" by a reputable shop your clearances aren't any bigger then what they are stock unless you asked for it. Other then piston/wall. Best of luck running heavy oils. I'll run lighter oil change it a lil more often and not need new bearing every other month.
