It is difficult to explain but i felt the pulling power and low gears response is better than when im on stock evo 5 turbo.

Im boosting at 1.4bar now and my current set-up is :
1) gsc s2 cams
2) 0.51" cometic hg
3) 38mm ultragate w/g with dual springs (14psi)
4) walbro 255 fp
5) tomei fpr

I dun think my car even achieved 350whp with 1.4bar boost.

What happen???
BC makes decent vsprings but their cams straight up suck, the cometic HG seals like crap and depending on the turbokit brand and type its hard to say what is to be expected.

I used to run a Power FC in my JDM STi with the additional hardware and was able to log wideband AFR´s with a AEM UEGO (LC1 is better though), which is crucial for a good tune. Also the commander just lets you see 1/8 of the maps at a time and is very cumbersome for tuning, with FC-edit you can see the whole map and trace it. Another important thing is your map´s load scaling, I remmember having to rescale my maps when I was close to 300 whp (MD), so if you are above that without having rescaled your maps I´d imagine that is holding you down as well.

Also be very carefull about knock, as the Power FC only tells you there is knock but does nothing about it, in my STi I aimmed for 0 knock, would tolerate up to 12, but more than a couple 80 - 100 counts meant get a new engine (Subaru´s case at least).

Good luck,

Ricardo
Hi Ricardo,
thanks for sharing and unfortunately im not very familiar with the tuning stuffs but my pfc is tune by a tuner via his laptop thru on the road tuning.

My graph shown it a little lean when full torque (13~14 A/R : 4500-5000rpm) and very rich all the way up til 7500rpm (11 A/R)

James ... With the parts you have on your evo ...
It should be able to produce well over 400whp or above ...
Its either some hardware or tuner's problem ...
I'm saying this coz my car's setup is quite the same as yours but with hks 264 cams ...
So with gsc s2 .. yours should be better ...
Btw ... where did you tune your car ? Sunway ?
Hope you can solved all your problem & start enjoying it ..

Hi Boonkae,
i will discuss with my tuner again and see what can be improve...
I believed it wont be hardware problem as ive conducted boost leak test, compression test and replace most of the wear & tear parts.

What is the boost you are on and what is the whp you achieved?

Dont expect much from garrett turbos at low boost pressures 20-23psi (1.4-1.6 bar) they are very lagish especially compared with stock turbos.
if you want to see what really your turbo can do over boosted over 2bar (29psi) and keep it not lower than 1.8bar (26psi)up to red line and you will see some good numbers on pump gas, about 400-430whp and more than 360 torque. of course you need a tune as well

Thanks Suxmyevo....

Really not happy on the result and will see my tuner again tmr....

The car feel so heavy and the A/F ratio on idle (1000rpm) is about 12~13 and as said, the car bounce back to slightly lean (13~13.5) during the highest torque curve at 4500 til 5000 rpm and immediately plunge til 10 at 7500rpm...

I'm not a fan of their valve springs. After experiencing some valve float, I switched them out for some GSC beehives.

we saw a pattern of dismal results on their 272 a few years ago but at the same time we had some customers with their 280's get very good results right up there with the best of the other cams. It's hard to know what you're going to get from them sometimes.

James, My friend had an evo 8 with thr profec and experienced the same thing. He replaced a part in the boost controller system and it fixed it. I will try to find out what it was and try to get back to you.

is the e-boost controller new? or used?
