Oil Gauge and Oil dash light flicker at Idle
Hello Evo World,
I was wondering if any one else is having this problem/ situations or knows whats goin on here..I drive an Evo Ix MR 06 with 46,000 miles. After driving for a while, when i come to a stop and idle, the my XLine Stepper Oil Gauge starts to flicker, and after a while my Oil light on the dash flickers as well, but sometimes i wont see the Dash light flicker for days but i can always count on that dam Oil gauge to start flashin at me..Ive had the gauge installed in December, and havnt had this problem till recently, and sometime it only happen when its a hott nice day...Anyone have any idea to whats goin on here...
Thank you

do you have bigger cams? often times aggressive cams will cause the oil light to flicker at idle or at a stop while driving around. how you done the necessary checks for big problems?

Probably your Oil Pressure Sensor (OPS). I had this happen to me and I ended starting at that due to the connector being all corroded. You should be able to get it from the dealership for around $30.00. If that doesn't work then i could be your sending unit or pump going bad.
Also do when you press the gas does it go off?

i had it too, because of my crap tune and it getting hot out, after long drives on the highway the car was idling at 6-700 rpms.
i use amsoil 10w30 so it was odd, was thinking of going to 10w40...then i checked my idle settings on the rom, upped them all 100rpm (all set to 900, main target and ac etc) flashed it, and havent seen the light since.

Not to thread jack, or bring the issue back up.. but I'm having the same "oil light flicker at idle" on my 03 evo 8. BUT just a couple days ago I went WOT and noticed a cloud of blue smoke come out the exhaust while driving. And I lost about 1 qrt of oil within a weeks time span?? Any ideas? I'm only at 12psi. Basically all stock. Haven't checked the turbo for any play. But last month I cheked it wen I installed my samco intake/cone filter. And there was NO play at all. Help me out guys. Thanks
If it helps any I had a bad kink in the valve cover bfreather hose that runs to the intake. Think that affected it? I replaced the line. No more kink, but still not sure if that was the issue all along.
