I vote AMS. A part that is made here in the good ol' USA. Why support chinese made products (Megan)? Of course this is just MY opinion so please don't take this the wrong way.

Exactly! I had the HKS and I thought it was great...until I realized that it wasnt a true 3" CBE. I bought the Megan and not only do I think it sounds more aggressive at WOT it is a true 3" CBE, no taper. Ive had it for years now.

Sometimes the evo world gets like the honda world where you have to have this brand name this, etc. With some parts brand DOES NOT MATTER. The only thing that Megan makes that sucks is their exhaust manifold. Their CBE, Test pipes, Down pipes, Coilovers, and o2 housings are just fine.

 

Im not a huge fan of the way my HKS Hi-power angles out, but it does sound damn good. It sounds really deep and good. Almost like a dodge cummins. Does not sound like your typical evo. I have a 3" turbo back and of course a slight taper at the cat.

I give +1 for the HKS.

Correct, just a straight test pipe in mine.

If money is any kind of issue I would, if I were to do it again, probably have just stuck with the Megan one. It sounded good, looked good and fit good.

 

Josh points out one really good reason to stay away from Megan Racing! Plus the question was asked about 3 different brand names but there is 2 different quality leves here. Megan Racing just isnt to the level of HKS and AMS, as far as quality goes! I'm not trying to bash Megan Racing but if these are the choices why not choose the better quality parts (HKS and AMS)? Again this is just my opinion/observation.
On my last Evo I had a combination of AMS and HKS! I had the AMS header, outlet pipe and downpipe. Everything else was HKS. It sounded really nice, but really loud!

 

Agreed. I'm not hating on Megan stuff, but you'd be silly to think that their stuff is the same quality as AMS or HKS. Plus, my AMS exhaust fits perfect with my JDM rear. If I was strapped for cash, I would get the Megan exhaust though.

 

Theres always going to be answers like this guy ^ so in reality you just need to look at the quality and design for yourself. If it doesnt come with a cool sticker or cost way more than it needs to alot of people wont buy it. Megan exhaust is as stated a full 3" with great quality and welds that will hold. It has a relatively quiet but deep idle and sounds great for everyday use but will give you that aggressive sound at WOT. I dont have any pics at the moment but it comes out angled and doesnt protrude the bumper so even if you switch to JDM im confident it would still be fine.

 

AMS stuff is expensive, but you get what you pay for. Plus, I'd rather support a business based in the USA.

But to each their own. I'm not hating on Megan stuff. I have a Megan o2 housing on my car.

i've been running megan tbe with ultimate racing test pipe for about 50k mile now, no issues love the sound havent been pulled over for it (knock on wood). I didnt rev too high here this was right after the install, but I have 2-step set up now if you want I can do another vid

 

. Well thanks for everyone's input... I think. I'm gonn stick with quality an stick with my AMS. I'll just hav the deal with the raspyness.. I'm just gonn have to figure out why mine sounds so ****ty be othe people sound decent

 

I thought Megan products were made in Taiwan.

 

I really like the sound of my Greddy titanium. Though it's definitely loud as ****.
