Hi I'm new to the forum and was wondering between which if these exhausts I should get and the differences if anyone can enlighten me.

 

ams - full 3" piping
hks - tapers to 2.5" at the flange
megan - full 3" piping

ams - the least amount of angle exiting the bumper
hks - huge angle out the rear
megan - in between the 2 for angle

as far as I have seen, the ams has the best fitment. that is why I run the ams exhaust

 

Well my.friend has the AMS it sounds raspy and loud and when he's under full throttle sounds like a civic lol... Do they all sound like that or is it just that set up? He's got a 6262 turbo and built motor

I have HKS and it does not tapper, its 3'' all the way, and what angle are you talking about?? AMS has more bents on the axle back part, to avoid the exiting angle being like others.

 

What Evo's don't sound like Civics under WOT? Maybe this is my Subaru side coming out but all Evo's sound like Civics under WOT no matter what exhaust they have. That is IMO of course, good luck with your selection.

 

Every HKS exhaust I have laid my eyes on was tapered at the cat flange. The angle I'm talking about is the stupid JDM look most people are after. Have you measured the piping at the flange on yours to verify it really is 3"?

stage2evo8, I would say it is your friends set up. I have a resonated test pipe in mine and it is very deep and throaty. It sounds nothing like a civic

 

Not true, mine sounds like a pissed off turbo that wants to keep spooling.

 

Idk my other buddys EVO sounds sexy under WOT but his.....hmmmm not so much

 

I have the AMS, and it has a good deep tone because I have the resonated test pipe.

paintballguy, my girlfriend says that sounds the exact same as mine. I too have the resonated pipe on my AMS exhaust

 

That's your opinion of course, I would probably think it sounded like a pissed off inline 4. I have a Perrin exhaust and absolutely despise it, the Evo's exhaust note is the only thing I can think of where the STI actually has the advantage. Anyway, sorry for the OT OP.

 

def do agree that subarus sound better, but thats all they good for, the rumble

 

I definitely love how it sounds. It's a great all around exhaust. AMS ftw

 

I'll post a video of the EVO how it sounds if i can figure our how to do it on this site
