engine whistles

Hey guys, maybe someone can help me. I have been hearing my car whistle for several months now. I know that the turbo spools up and makes a whistling sound. But it has become really loud. I can hear it over my radio with the windows rolled up. I don't remember it being this loud when I first purchased the car. The car whistles from the moment I encounter boost and continues at the same pitch until I release the gas. Am I leaking boost? or am I simply paranoid?

Thanks

It sounds to me like you might be leaking boost. But you should not be getting that sound constantly for sure. If you have had this sound for months, why haven't you taken it back to the dealership to have them check it out?

I guess I should take it to the dealer. Problem is that I don't really trust them. I've been disappointed with Mitsubishi this far. I can see them stating that it "is your modifications that caused the bov to leak". Or something like that. Just need to know if this is symptoms of leaking. I can silmply purchase a bov that won't leak.

Take it to another dealer if possible. FYI- the dealer and are two separate entities. As far as what the problem is, I would start with the BOV.

You are probably right. I will take it to another dealer in my area and see if they are a little more user friendly.

Thanks.

It is probably a boost leak. I wonder if anyone has tried making a device that will pressurize the system to check for leaks. They do this on dsm's which basically detaches the tube to the turbo and pressurizes the system with an air compressor (not to in depth) but if you want more info try www.dsm.org
