Worth porting/polishing the head?

I will list my current mods below... but I have a Stage 3 Buschur 2.1L shortblock on the way. With the head already off, and future intentions of upgrading from a stock turbo to an FP Black or HTA35R (haven't decided yet)... I'm wondering if I should have the head ported. I'm going to be putting dual springs/retainers in with the Cosworth 272 cams that are already installed.

Is it worth the money? What type of gains should I expect on my current stock turbo setup, if any? What would I expect to gain if I had an FP Black or HTA35R? ...all relative to gains vs, stock/un-ported head.

Thanks guys!

...Upcoming 2.1L Buschur motor.

it is absolutely worth it.. your motor will be able to breath better for high revving which will net you more power

pretty much summed it up right there. Get it done so your car is fully built and your not later on paying more in labor to get the head off just to have it ported at a later time for the fp black.

If you have a full port job done make sure it will be flow benched or done by someone with templates or a c&c program already made from a proven porting job. I have seen port jobs that were just hogging out the ports bigger and it can actually harm flow. If a flow bench or templates aren't available a port match, deburr, and smooth job is about all you would want to do.
I know I'm a noobie on here but I have worked in a shop that did this kind of work. Good luck and happy boosting.

Does anyone have before/after dyno graphs for different level of head work?

This seems like an expensive mod and I don't see much in the way of documented results on different setups.

The problem with quantifiable data on head porting alone is, the people who have ported heads, like me, have done it while other changes are made as well. Therefore, it is difficult to find someone that has taken the head off, ported, then put it back on without changing anything else in their set up. If you want BIG power, then do it while you are in there, and get bigger valves as well.
