Gates timing belt whine... normal?
Really only hear it at idle, only heard it during accelerating for the first 3 days. That's gone, but idle noise is still present. Is this normal for the Kevlar belt?

Common I would agree with, as I see it all over the place. Tensioned to just below spec at install to coincide with the stiffer belt. With how mild it is, can that be attributed to the Kevlar as I know the tension is right? Or may there be some other underlying issue?

Eh the tensioner only does so much. when i did my timing belt i almost maxed out the idler pulley i beleive it was and then cranked over the motor about 3 times by hand and then set the auto tensioner. my auto tensioner only moved out of the pin about 2 or 3mm. i also changed the cam gears to hks but i dont think that would really make a difference

I should have clarified. How you set tension will make a difference on if its quiet or not. We do 3-4 timing belt jobs a week during this time of year and use the Gates belt as it is the same as factory. We havent had belt whine in the 3.5 years I have been here that was the belt. Tensioner/Idler bearing issues or improper tension on cars brought to us by customers has always accounted for the whine.

whine from the best actually quit today... haven't heard it yet. I'm pretty sure the belt was either a tiny bit too tight, and the tensioner took care of it, or it needed to be broken in a little bit.... in any event it stopped today.
HOWEVER............ now I hear a NEW noise. This one is coming from the back of the car, I have noticed it yesterday and today when parked and out of the car waiting for the turbo timer to kill the car. Someone help me figure this one out please. This is at driver's side rear tire.
