Talking Light driveshaft questions ?

I am ready to buy one but I would like more info. I have not been able to find any back to back testing. Here are some claims I have seen.

3 mph in 1/4 mile
0.3 sec in 1/4 mile
5 - 10 whp

I understand that there may be some feel benefits but are there any measureable benefits? I still might buy one for that special feeling if nothing else.

driveshafts are something to buy when you have everything else. benefit/$ they are very expensive.

Are you going to be running solid engine, gearbox and diff mounts?

My toy

This is my daily driver but I like to play with it. I think I have done all the $100 mods. I have almost 93,000 miles on the car. (almost all highway) I was thinking about doing a ported intake and exhaust manifold with a larger tb. If I do, I will want to make another trip to the dyno for a tune.

I have been trying to convince my wife the engine is wearing out. So she will be ok with me doing a stroker kit or a 2.4 swap. I am not quite there on the convincing yet so I am trying to do smaller things.

Poly mounts

I have the Blox front engine mount. (very stiff but not solid.)
Torque solutions driveshaft mounts.
I have done the Energy suspension master kit which included mustache bar and diff bushings.

Is that stiff enough to remove a pivot in the driveshaft? 3 to 2 piece

mate i haven't installed all my mods but a carbon driveshaft is on my list from one two manufacturers.

If not I'll be going a two piece aluminium one. But in saying that I stilll have a part list that is over 15k long to buy for my evo before i commence strip down and building.

Thumbs up Update

I bought the AWD motorsports driveshaft. It feels great. The slop that I felt with the OEM driveshaft is gone. It is hard to describe the difference. It feels like I am driving a much lighter car now. I am glad that I pulled the trigger on this mod.

Awesome, i'm glad it worked out!
Is there an increase in accel/deccel sounds/noise/vibration?

Also what engine mounts are you running? solid on the cross member so it can't rock back?
Or you didn't worry about that?

Cheers, Mike

There is less noise. No clunking. I have a Blox front engine mount, energy suspension master kit, and torque solutions prop shaft bushings. The energy kit includes mustache bar bushings and rear diff bushings.

the question for me is which to run -
pst carbon or two piece aluminium

Dss two piece aluminium

AWD two piece aluminium

CTG Carbon 1 piece

APM two piece or carbon 1 piece.

Lots of choices but, picking the best based on critical failure rating, engineering, finish and weight.

No point having a two piece that only has one half balanced or is not engineered correctly, or a carbon opne piece if it's not set right for the angle and creates strain.

Be nice to hear from the manufacturer of each with all their ratings and testing of their own products..

Awd was one i orginally looked qat but i believe it has a lower critical failure rate than many of the others and I was informed only half of it is balanced- Mike would be able to confirm or clear up that rumour though and give an exact failure number.

Was curious on the pst carbon one as it is only 1500......
