fp black vs pte 6262 .63 a/r pump gas?

how would the fp black and 6262 .63 a/r compare on pump gas? i have a 2.3 stroker, ported head, sheet metal intake manifold, kelford 280 cams etc ive narrowed my choices down to these two turbos and i am currently limited to 91oct but might move somewhere in a year or two that has e85, so im limited to pump gas until then. seems like the spool difference would be about 700rpm or so from my research but i was wondering if the 6262 would make a good amount of more power on pump gas? appreciate the help

With such a small backside I'd be surprised if it made more power then the Black. At least a .82 would make more sense? no?

well the limiting factor is the elevation im at (6k+) so the .82 is real laggy. it sucks that i dont have access to e85 or else i would easily choose the 6262 but since im limited to pump, i want to see which would be better. the spool difference is big but im trying to see if the 6262 would make enough additional power to negate this.

I made 507 on 93 at 26 psi. 2.3 bottom end and .63 A/R.

thanks for the replies so far guys, nice to get a glimpse on pump numbers for both turbos on stroker motors, although i know there are many variables, at least it gives an idea. i have another thread on here with a poll for different turbos but ive narrowed my choices down which is why i created this thread. i currently have a buschur t3 kit with a 6262 .82 a/r and alcohol injection. im going to remove the alky kit and just run pump gas. the current set up is too laggy at this elevation (20psi by 4800rpm). at first i was going to switch to an hta35r .63, but realized its not worth the trouble as it would only spool about 200rpm faster than switching to a .63 on my 6262. the black on the otherhand is interesting because it spools so much faster and makes good power and i could sell my kit and put some money back into my pocket lol the last option was to do a t4 twinscroll hta35r 1.06 a/r, but this would require spending a bit more money, although this seems like a good medium between the t3 kit and upgraded stock turbos. so in the end, im just looking for the best set up for my needs. what do you guys think?

Hey Buddy. Here's my opinion. Keep what you have. I also have a T3 6262-.82 on a built 2.0
Made over 600 on 93 on 28 psi. Dj. year and a half ago. It's well worth it. Plus you have a stroker. There isn't any stock location turbo gonna make that power. To each is on. Just my opinion.
I've since switched to E 85 and I'm sure you can imagine the power it makes. I've seen people try to push stock location turbos past their limit just for a quick dyno number.
Don't let that hype fool you. Best of luck either way. And no offense to the stock location people. It's a great bang for the buck also.

That was on virtual dyno set to dynojet specs. On CBRDs mustang it made 470 on E-85 at 25psi.

i made 654whp(e85) on the same mustang dyno that rockmanx made his 402 on pump with my 6262 compared to his black. .82 a/r though

i would advise you to stick with the 6262 .63 AR since it will give you more power and will be a more advantage when you go with e85.
concerning the AR i was lost also which way to go, until i got a feedback from tuners that at those levels of boost 31-34 psi i wont see much difference in power however i will be gaining some rpm at spool with the .63.
here they made 700+ on .63.

what is everyone's thoughts on twinscroll t4 hta35r with a 1.06 a/r? seems like this would spool the same as a singlescroll .63 a/r, but is said to have alot better transient response. i am almost convinced to go this route but it would involve selling my current kit and swapping to this. im not a die hard drag racer, just looking for an all around street beast lol

as for the black vs 6262 debate, on pump, are you guys saying that the loss in spool of the 6262 would still be worth it as it would make more power than the black (im estimating 30+whp)?

Hey there

a T3 .63 will do the trick, I am at about 5500ft altitude and ran a 6262 with a .63 on a 2.3L it felt lively from about 3000rpm - full boost about 4200rpm and made about 700HP

I would go with a fp black on pump gas. It would spool faster and you really can't take advantage of 6262 unless you crank the boost up!
