Timing Belt Problem

Hello Community,

This weekend I go to the track to test the new mods in my car. All was perfect, when suddenly the car turn off and revs in 0. Today in the shopwork I remove the top plastic cover of the timing belt and I saw that the timing belt was loose. Now I have to disarm below too see if the timing belt was cut or the problem is the tensioner.
Indepent of that I want to know if this engine 4g63 2005 Evolution 8 , 100% stock the pistons could hit the valves.

Thank's you.

Yes, it's an interference engine. The pistons will hit the valves if the timing is way off or the belt breaks while driving.

^+1. Interference motor, if the belt is loose more than likely tensioner failure, belt jumped teeth and all hell broke loose. I would check the timing and do a. Compression and leakdown test.
