PT 6262 .63 a/r or FP black bb

I need some input on these turbos for daily driving fun. Will PROBABLY see E85 after my drivetrain is built. The new FP black BB or the BB 6262 .63 a/r (or .82 a/r) on 93 octane. I'm on a 2.3 stroker with GSC s2. I already know there are a lot of different threads out there, but these are the only two I am thinking about.

You'll love both turbos on your set-up, but the larger turbo gives you more room to grow.

Depends on what you are building it for. I've personally seen a .63 on a 2.3 spool like crazy and make over 740hp. I think they're a great match. You should be able to hit 500tq on pump gas.

Are you on stock gearing?

Yes, stock gearing. I'm afraid of the first shift with that kind of power the car will be down. The car will be driven daily for a while. No E85 as of now. Maybe in the future.

There's a right way and a wrong way to "beat on your car". The right combo should get you 600 on pump with gobbs of torque.

The .63 a/r //stroker combo is a blast.

Here are 2 links for reference,,, 500tq on pump!!

In that case with my setup, the .63 would benefit me more? I only want to buy a turbo once for this car.

If you want 600hp buy a black. If you want 750-800whp capability buy a 6262R. I have a 6262R with no miles for sale for $1200 and it is an original one with gt35r chra and milled surge ported compressor housing.

One thing I would take into consideration is compressor surge on the .63 turbine. I get surge when rolling into 4th and definitely 5th gear at lower rpms. My turbo is slightly different (standard GT35R) and I have a 2.0 liter stock block. 3rd and below are usually ok, but something to consider. With the stroker, the extra displacement will help though. I would personally go with a .82 turbine if I had to do it again, but I am stuck with the 5 bolt .63 unless I want to replace the O2 housing.

are you guys sure the 6262 on a .63 AR will get in the 700's. I know spool would be better but I thought the smaller hot side would choke it in the upper RPM's

I'm only revving to 8K. Will the 63 choke at that rpm?

The surge point is airflow dependent not just rpm. I would run the .82 on a stroker. It will have a great powerband anf not fall off up top. I am going T4 6262R thats why I am selling the one i have now to upgrade. I also dont want water lines on the dsm because the look sloppy but evo water lines are cleaner so i would use them on the evo. My evo is getting a std 35R on the stock motor with a .63 though.

My thing is, is the 6262 82 as laggy as everyone claim? I know it'll spool earlier on the 2.3.

Define "laggy".

My opinion of laggy is 4800+ on a 2.3. I'm ok with 4500.
