I need to put oil restrictor to my turbo PTE (journal) if I install the line in the original factory outlet head ?

Usually only ball bearing turbos need a restrictor. Journal bearing turbos will take all the oil they can get.

The factory head location is known to have low oil pressure even with a stock size turbo. You'll be more likely to have inadequate pressure for a PTE, rather than too much...

So, to answer his original question, he should not use an oil restrictor if supplying oil to the turbo from the head. Technically, he probably shouldn't use a restrictor at all with a journal bearing turbo, correct?

Sorry, I wasn't implying that the oil supply source from the head would give the turbo "all the oil it can get", but that journal bearing turbos in general NEED all the oil they can get.

They are two separate issues.

Journal bearing turbos can get too much oil pressure -- just probably not from the stock head oiling location

I don't know what PTE reommends for oil pressure on their specific turbos, and would suggest that the OP call them and ask. But if I were running a journal bearing turbo of any kind on an Evo, I'd feed from the filter housing like FP does, to get high pressure, and then use the appropriate restricter to reduce to the oil pressure that the manufacturer recommends...

Hmm, I have one of MAPs oil feed lines that runs off the oil filter housing and MAP told me JB turbos don't need restrictors. I don't get it, they don't include a restrictor in their feed lines for their turbos but FP does. 90+ psi is way too much for any turbo IMO.

I'll play it safe and sell the MAP line and get an FP kit.

What is the size or specification of the oil restrictor that FP uses?

for journal bearing is 0.125"
for ball bearing is 0.030"

Why don't you call PT&E at: 219-996-7832. Ask them if they think it is necessary to run a restrictor in your case.
