Flywheel bolts rounded!!!!
So i took my ExeddyTwindisk flywheel off yesterday and 3 of my flywheel bolts rounded off.
I was using hard impact sockets 6 point
Ideas? should i just buy new OEM ones or are they aftermarket ones?

Just buy OEM.
The problem is the socket. If you look closely, some impact sockets don't contact the bolt head until after 1/8". The flywheel bolt heads are thin causing them to round off. This happened to me. If you take a grinder to the socket, you can fix that so it makes better contact with the bolt head.
Example of an impact socket I'm talking about:
This will round off the top area of a flywheel bolt.

Hehe. I did that too. Had to grind the bolt head down a bit and then hammer in a smaller-sized socket to get it out.
Take previous guys suggestion and grind down the front of the socket flat. Loctite 'em going back in with OEM bolts.

When that happened to me hammering on a socket helped on a couple but wouldnt work on some, I went to sears and got a short ez-out kit with the reversed flutes in them, I think like 5 or 10 of them in a little red box for like 20 bucks, money well spent....Banged it on a few good times and bolts came right out.
Also if you're from NJ area like I see most people are, extremepsi.com has the flywheel bolts and will be at your door next day if ordered before I think 3pm

You don't need aftermarket bolts. The stock ones are more than sufficient. The problem was the socket. Also, bolts with a taller head will be heavier. More rotational mass.

I would be careful about using loctite on those. The person that put my flywheel bolts on last time used it and I couldn't get my bolts back out without destroying half of them. I didn't use loctite when I put my new flywheel back on. I think the bolts call for like 90ft-lbs of torque and they are holding fine after 2 years now. I bet they will be a LOT easier to get back off next time.

after using any red loctite on any bolt it is a good idea not to reuse them after i take off my clutch or flywheel bolts i get new ones they are only 4 dollars from stm and the hex head allen bolts for exedy tripple is like .30 a piece.

Just like MRfabolous said, I always buy new bolts when I'm putting something like a flywheel on, especially after I previously used Loctite. Heck, I usually buy all new bolts when installing anything on my car.

I always use Loctite on critical flywheel and PP bolts. Its cheap insurance especially when the engine is spinning 9k. My impact has no problem getting them off.
BTW- Exedy wants like 20 bucks for their PP allen bolts. ACE hardware store has them with the same exact grade / size and much cheaper.

i know the stock bolts are fine, i just dont like the shallow head on them and dont like having to keep a special socket around.
