Engine blown...help please

Ok guys I'm kind of new at this and recently bought an evo 8 from another member on here about three weeks ago. The other day I took it to a local shop to have a compression test done, all the fluids changed, and the car inspected for any other problems. The compression test results came back normal and the fluids were then changed. After all this was done the tech and I went on a brief test drive because I wanted him to listen for a noise I thought was a wheel bearing. Less than a mile into the test drive we hit boost for the first time and boom there goes the engine. A rod ended up snapping and going through the front of the block. Needless to say it needed to get towed back to the shop which is where it now sits. Any suggestions?

Uhh... get a new block?

What type of suggestions are you looking for? Also, sorry to hear that. I did this on my 4G93 once...

Yea well I know I at least need a new shortblock...I called and asked what type of resolution we could make and it doesn't seem as if they're taking any responsibility at all. In my opinion though regardless of if the oil was changed properly or not (which we''ll never know because its all on the side of the road) if I as a customer send a car in to be checked out for any major issues and they don't do that the oil is irrelevant...

if the car is stock you can say its their fault but if its been modded then thats all they need to keep blame off them

If they just looked over the car that in no way makes them liable for anything. If you had no oil there would be warning signs and if it blew the rod out when under boost and the big end is still OK you can tell if it was a power issue or an oiling issue.

I would check and make sure they didn't forget to put oil back in the Engine. I have seen more than one tech forget to put oil back in, of replace the filter. I remember one tech used to put on the filter last. He forgot to do it on an old 56 Ford truck, when the guy started reversing out of the garage and start driving towards the street..
There was a long streak of oil behind him. Luckily we got him before he got on the street, and boy was the customer pissed!
