not to sound too ignorant (I've not opened an Evo tranny /T-case yet), but are you saying the tranny case split or that the dif case (body) split? It sounds to me that you are saying that only the dif itself failed...

Quaife lsd group buy...

Let's keep this thread on track and get these things made. Anyone serious about tracking or autocrossing their evo will benefit.

The tech from quaife said they will build it sooner if there is interest.

Sign up if you got coin and are serious! We need more than 5...

Kudos to RRE for getting the ball started by sending out stock diffs. That should take care of speculation about fitment issues etc.

The diff case itself was the only part that broke, and that was only due to the high torque load on the stock jdm peice. I have full confidence in the quaiffe units having used them for years in DSM applications.\

center vs. front lsd...

but will we have to change the center diff as well? this doesnt seem clear here

Per Roger at quaife/autotech, they can make a front, middle or rear lsd. With RRE sending out evo 8 stock diffs they should be plug and play. The tech at quaife said it isn't that big of a deal to do the front. You will not have to buy the middle to use the front .

It would just be a nice addition though!

I'd be interested if it was less than a grand... but I don't see how Quaife would take us seriously if none of us know what they'd charge for the thing..

Some where probably around to north of a grand. If you are not sure about it= probably not for you. Track use and autocross should be a significant advantage if you are really into that.

Sign up only if you are serious.

We will get real price from quaife after the r & d on the rre stock diffs is finished in any case.

I'll tell you, I would love to have Quaife diffs in all 3 locations. Front first, rear second and middle last. The only question on the middle diff is what split they'd go with. Hopefully you'd have the option of 36/65, 45/55 (my choice) or 50/50. As for the front, I think a 1.5-way would be optimum with a 2-way in the rear. I can only imagine the sick traction we'd get out of corners... YES!!

The quiafe diffs are not available in any configuration except 1 way. The terms 1.5, and 2 way are only to be applied to clutch style diffs such as the ones availble from CUSCO. The way that a quaife works is to bind up internally under load, that is it. That is also why they are so well loved in auto-x, becasue they allow very tight turns while coasting in addition to being a fully locked design under load.

That's good to know and is another reason I'd been waiting on Cusco to decide. However, I'll go with Quaife if they come through. Either one is a winner.
