Is it installer issues or the clutch?

I posted in the other thread but it is most likely a transmission issue. If the input shaft is bent or has support bearing wear this will cause this problem. If the alignment of the trans to engine block is off at all it is a problem as well. On DSM a lot of people forgot the rear bolt and the trans would push away from the block and cause misalignment ripping the centers out if clutches. On a pull clutch this wont happen because all clutch pressure pulls the block and trans together. The more disks the less ability to shift to compensate and less spline engagement so the hubs strip versus breaking the hub out of the disk. Since the triple and the QM have the big hub to drive the disks you are seeing the wear on the item with less spline engagement.

its virtually impossible to bent an input shaft. so you were likely doofed on that one. this clutch issue is clearly a clutch issue. at best it may just be a bad batch of clutches.

I wouldnt use this clutch until exedy comes clean on this issue.

Yeah, there aren't dozens of high horsepower evo's running exedy mutliplate clutches on high power without having this issue.... much less ones that see tons of track time...

I guess Buschur Racing, STM, and every other high horsepower shop car must just have gotten a randomly good batch since they run 8's and 9's without having this issue

Shep also recommends these clutches. You have a shop telling you why their customer had this issue and how it was fixed. Obviously they must be lying. These kinds of threads are kind of funny to watch.

I emailed exedy about this and they game me the usual bull **** answers naming every possible cause under the sun. The trans/clutch was assembled correctly. Just curious if this has happened to anyone else. looking at other peoples for sale threads I have seen signs of the same thing happening to a couple clutches just not as bad.

Same exact thing happened to me but to bottom plate teeth were completely smooth. I suggest to anyone looking to convert to triple disk, get the hyd TOB conversion too. The master cylinder rod isn't long enough to release a triple disk.

hey just wanted to get in on this thread and say I ve had the triple for about 11k miles.. I was making 420whp and 430 tq when i 1st got the triple back in April of 2012. I rebuilt the motor in Sept, and when we pulled the clutch the spline hub a 1st disk were pretty jacked up after 8K miles, and so i replace those parts .. i then got re tuned with the fresh rebuild and made 600whp and 510tq .. i then took a 3k mile road trip .. and recently i couldnt get into 1st or reverse from a stop .. then one night at a light the clutch made the most horrendous noise ever.. metal on metal thrown in a blender ..so i pulled the trans so see what was up ... I was blown away when i saw the disk and hub

keep in mind these have 3k miles on them 99% of which were highway driving .. i went to the track once, have done a handful of pulls .. and i only make 600whp and 510 tq .. so yea needless to say this being my 2nd triple, Im moving on to something else
