bent FMIC fins

How bad is it to have alot of bent FMIC fins.

My AMS FMIC is starting to get have quite a few bent fins

I tried bending it straight but some are just unfixable.

Will it affect performance by alot with alot of bent fins?

as long as there are no punctures / leaks in the FMIC system its ok.. but you could go through the fins and straighten each one out carefully with a razorblade or similar.

as long as not a whole lot are bent you are fine. dont worry.

On the FMIC and oil cooler, straightening fins and picking out the bugs is something I do every fall. The oil cooler seems to catch the worst of it on my car. I use a dental pick.

never a bad idea to straighten them out, but you should be fine as long as you have no leaks

take a comb and straighten them with that. Works perfect!

They sell combs or teeth rakes that come in different numbers of teeth per inch, but you can also make your own by sanding down a popsicle stick or the end of a plastic knife from Wendys to fit the normal undamaged size of the spaces. You can make it look nearly perfect if you make the right size tool and take your time

Has anyone taken much notice of which of the top intercooler cores are stronger and less prone to bending?

Do you mean the fins? Fins are fairly generic I would say.

As for straightening bent fins, I use a pair of thin tweezers that fit perfect between the fins. I wouldn't worry about a few broken or bent fins, this shouldn't dramatically affect performance.
